 TOWN OF ACTON SELECTMEN’S MEETING SEPTEMBER 3, 2009

 SALUTE TO THE AMERICAN FLAG

 1.      APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as written.

 2.      APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Approved as written.

 3.       SIGNING THE WARRANT: Approved and signed.

 4.      OLD BUSINESS:

 (a)  Cable Committee Update: Carol Long reported the committee is back in their room since Town Hall repairs have been completed. They filmed about 4 hrs at Acton Fair.  The televising schedule is posted on the outside bulletin board as well as being shown on TV. Dennis asked how many hours the committee members put in a week. Carol estimated 50-60.

 b) Road Committee Update: Pam McAlinden reported the survey of Town Ways is completed and next week they will start on private roads. They will need contact persons on private ways and roads with associations, to accompany them. Two workers put in 46+ hours this week.

 Dennis noted that he had asked for the hours these committee members has put in so that the public would know how much time our volunteers contribute, for which he thanks them.

 5. NEW BUSINESS:

 1. SIGN ORDER FOR NOVEMBER 3, 2009 ELECTION: On a motion by Larissa the order was signed. Dennis expressed his appreciation to Jen Roux for her help in getting this order prepared.

 2. SCOTT STANTON-SIGN OPTIONS: Scott Stanton said he designed the sign at the school for public notices 10 years ago. He donated a sign to the Fire Department 5 years ago. He is now willing to donate a sign to the Town to be placed at the intersection of Route 109 and H Road.  The Town will need to install the electrical connection. The Selectmen thanked Scott for his generosity.  

3: CHANGE TIME OF SEPTEMBER 24 MEETING TO , BEFORE PUBLIC HEARING: The time change was approved.  

4. POLICIES: Two new policies were read. On a motion by Dennis, the Tech Support Position policy was adopted. On a motion by Dennis the policy on Daily Deposit Procedure was adopted.             

5. TOWN CLERK’S OFFICE CLOSED SEPTEMBER 23 FOR TRAINING.  The date of October 1 at was set for a public hearing on the November election changes in zoning. Ken Paul will do a power point presentation.

 Larissa announced that the Town Hall will be taking part in the Apple Festival on September 19. They are planning on a dunk tank and other activities. There will be a Fairy Gnome Village display at the Mary Grant Preserve from to .
