TOWN OF ACTON SELECTMEN’S MEETING

SALUTE TO THE AMERICAN FLAG

1.      APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as written.

2.   APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Approved as written.

3.   WARRANT: Approved and signed.

4.  OLD BUSINESS: None

5.  NEW BUSINESS:

1. QUIT CLAIM DEED: Brian Jr. and Nancy Beach have repurchased their property which had been foreclosed upon by the Town. A Quit Claim Deed was signed.

 

2. JOB DESCRIPTION FOR DEPUTY TREASURER: On a motion by Dennis, the job description was adopted.

 

3. WAIVER OF INTEREST/FEES ON ACTON RIDGE PROPERTY: Property on Acton Ridge Road which has been taxed as “Owner Unknown” has been claimed by abutter Mark and Robert Davis. The Davis’s have paid the back taxes and on a motion by Dennis, all fees and interest will be waived.

4. LIST OF VETERANS NAMES AND LOCATIONS BURIED IN ACTON: Selectmen met with the Conservation Committee prior to tonight’s meeting and Wesley Ham has agreed to furnish the Selectmen with the list of names and locations. There is a need to create a description of the duties of this committee. Dennis noted the brass flag holders that have been removed and replaced with plastic should be brought to the Town Hall.

5. DEMOLITION DISPOSAL PERMIT: Larissa announced that as of March 1 the Code Enforcement Officer will be issuing free demolition permits to anyone in town planning to tear down a building or renovate. As of May 1, no one will be allowed to dispose of demo debris at the Transfer Station without a permit.

6. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Dennis reported the Metrocast Franchise Fee of $37,032.32 has been received and budgeted. Town Meeting date has been set for June 12, 2010. The Warrant and Finance Committee will be meeting Monday and establishing a dateline for hearings. Warrant and Finance Committee will meet with school February 15 and 22. Dates to vote on school budget are April 6 and 13.

Larissa noted that Circuit Breaker Refund Applications are available here at Town Hall. Also, that proceeds from the Lion’s Breakfast this month will go to Haiti relief.

Karl Hodgdon reported there is a refrigerator that has been left beside the road near Parson’s Point that needs to be taken care of. The doors have not been removed. Burt Rogers asked the status of the installation of the school generator. Dennis will check with the school. Karl said the marker for the Town Line on North Shapleigh has been located. The granite marker that was believed to be the line is a range line marker. This will be corrected in the spring.
