SELECTMEN’S MEETING

 

February 18, 2010

 

Open the meeting at with a Salute the American Flag.

 

1.                  APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA:  Approved as written with addition to New Business 4. Oxford County Casino Proposal

 

2.                  APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM LAST BOS MEETING:  Approved as written.

 

3.                  WARRANT:  Approved and signed.

 

4.                  OLD BUSINESS:

 

a.      Cable Committee Update:  Larissa informed audience of a speed increase to the website so that meetings that are taped could be added for viewing.

 

b.      Road Committee Update:  Karl Hodgdon talked of a March 18th Meeting with Inland Fisheries and the Watershed Alliance regarding new mandates requirements on sediment near and around our lakes.  The public is encouraged to attend. 

 

c.       Sign Demolition Debris Deposal Policy:   Signed as written.

 

d.      Sign Appointment of Alternate to Planning Board:  Signed off on appointment of Art Kelly as an Alternate to Planning Board which was approved at the BOS, February 11, 2010.

 

5.                  NEW BUSINESS

 

1.      Warrant and Finance Committee Update on School Meeting: Dennis gave an update on the Emergency Meeting this afternoon.  He said the meeting was scheduled to review and update the budget schedule.

 

2.      Sign New Credit Card Agreement:  Signed off on new Credit Card Agreement.

 

3.      Discussion of 12 Town Group:  Larissa read a letter from the 12 Town Group with suggestions for State Legislature to add a 5 cent gas tax and/or increase the sales tax.  Tony, Dennis and Larissa do not agree with either increase.

 

4.      Oxford County Casino Proposal:  Tony read a letter from the Town of Oxford which is proposing to bring a resort destination casino to Oxford County. 

 

6.                  ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Dennis gave an update on Lorraine’s illness and that she would be back next week.  Larissa announced that she is holding a luncheon on Tuesday, February 23 at noontime for seniors 65 and over.  There will be soup, bread and scones.  The workshop is to socialize and welcome future activities for senior citizens.  Tony put a plea out to get more volunteers to run the video camera to tape meetings.
