SELECTMEN’S MEETING

TOWN OF ACTON

September 8, 2011

SALUTE TO THE FLAG

1.  APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as written.

2.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  Approved as written.

3. OLD BUSINESS: None.

4. NEW BUSINESS:

1. MAKE RECOMMENDATION ON WARRANT ARTICLE: Ted read the warrant article, “Do you favor approving the proposed amendments to the Town of Acton Zoning Ordinance dated September  2011 and the Official Shoreland Zoning Maps 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 dated September 29, 2011?” The Warrant and Finance Committee had recommended “Ought to  Pass” 3 yes, 2 no.  On a motion by Larissa, the Selectmen recommend, “Ought to Pass,” 2 yes,  1 no, Ted voting in the negative.

2. ACCEPT RESIGNATION OF VIRGINIA DEBOER FROM CABLE COMMITTEE:

On a motion by Larissa, Virginia’s resignation was accepted with regret and appreciation for all the work she has done. Ted noted he was glad she was willing to continue to film events.  

3. INVITATIONS TO BID FOR WINTER SAND HAVE BEEN SENT – BIDS TO BE RETURNED SEPTEMBER 22.

4. SIGN WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING: On a motion by Larissa the warrant was signed

5. OTHER BUSINESS:  Ted expressed his appreciation to the Acton Fire Department, Acton Rescue, the Road Commissioners, School Department and Andy Brazier for their vigilance and services rendered during Hurricane Irene. The Acton School was open for three nights for those who needed water or needed to shower.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Openings are available for members to be appointed to the Planning Board; Policy Committee. and 2 openings on the Cable Committee.

 Larissa reported there will be a Blood Drive at the Public Safety Building on Saturday from to3pm. She also noted that kudos go to Mark Davis for completing the roof job at the school before the kids came “back to school”.
