SELECTMEN’S MEETING

TOWN OF ACTON

September 22, 2011

 

SALUTE TO THE FLAG  

1.  APPROVAL OF AGENDA:  Approved as written.

2.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  Approved as written.

3. OLD BUSINESS:  None

4. NEW BUSINESS:

1. OPEN BIDS FOR WINTER SAND: The following bids were received:

                        Pepin                                      $5.70  per yard

                        Landscapers  Depot              $5.25 per yard

                        Stuart Torno & Stuart          $5.98 per yard

                        Turk’s Sand & Gravel          $5.10 per yard

Selectmen conferred with the Road Commissioners who said Turk’s sand was used last year and it was good, so they recommended accepting Turk’s bid, being the lowest bid. On a motion by Larissa, Turk’s bid was accepted.             

2. APPOINTMENTS: On motions by Larissa, Selectmen appointed Cindy Vachon to the APAT Cable Committee and William Cataneyse as Deputy EMA.

 

3. VOTE TO CLOSE TOWN HALL SEPT. 29: On a motion by Larissa it was voted to close the Town Hall from to on Thursday, September 29. A Special Town Meeting is scheduled at the Acton Elementary School beginning at .

 

OTHER BUSINESS: Barbara Seckar announced there will be a dedication observance at the Town Hall on November 11, to dedicate the new flagpole and chairs for the Town Hall. They plan to have a pot luck dinner at and the dedication at .

AANNOUNCEMENTS: Openings are available for members to be appointed to the Planning Board; Policy Committee, Cable Committee.

The Fire and Rescue are compiling a list of all elderly and handicapped who should be checked on during power outages and emergency disasters. Please contact Lorraine Yeaton or Ed Walsh if you know of someone.

 

Apple Festival will be held Saturday, September 24. Please support the various venders and the apple growers.
