TOWN OF ACTON

SELECTMEN'S MEETING

AUGUST 14, 2007

1.      PUBLIC FORUM:  Dick Neal wanted to go on record as complaining about the Motocross Rally on August12. The noise and number of bikes going by his house was totally offensive. Mike said he would check into this to report the complaint but this is vehicular traffic which the Town has no control over. Dick feels the Town should be notified when this is going to take place.

     

      Bob Anderson said he will look into the cost of replacing the Town of Acton signs that AIM put up some years ago.

      Dick Neal extended an invitation for the public to visit the Mary Grant Nature Preserve to see what progress has been made. He hopes to have the Americore group to work for a day.

      Dennis asked if the moratorium can be petitioned for. Some present think there is a three year wait before calling for another vote.

2.      APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved with the addition of 6.(C).

3.      APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  Approved as written.

4.      WARRANT: Approved and signed.

5.      OLD BUSINESS

(A) ASSESSING: No action.

(B)  CABLE CONTRACT: Meeting set with Metrocast for August 24.

6.      NEW BUSINESS

      (A) FLAT GROUND ROAD TOWN OWNED PROPERTY: A letter has been received from an abutter wishing to purchase this property.  The selectmen will consider the offer if they decide to    sell the property.

      (B) TOWN OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED SATURDAY, AUGUST 25 FOR ACTON FAIR, AND SATURDAY, SEPT. 1 FOR LABOR DAY: TOWN CLERK'S OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED AUGUST 31. WILL BE OPEN  AUGUST 30 from 5 to 8 pm.: Selectmen will post the notice.

      (C) FEE SCHEDULE: Mike noted the need to update the fee schedule. He asked Lorraine to check with Portland and Rochester as to how they handle and charge for assessing property cards.
