SELECTMEN’S MEETING

 TOWN OF ACTON

September 13, 2012

8PM

 

A public hearing was held at 6pm with York County Sheriff Maurice Ouellette present to explain the grant for a Deputy Program. Fire Chief Peter Smith was present to discuss the purchase of a new fire truck. There were about 40 persons present and many questions asked and answered. The hearing was opened with the salute to the flag.

 

 

1.  APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as written with the option to sign the warrant as soon as prepared. (Not to wait for article (f).

2.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Approved as written.

 

3.  OLD BUSINESS: None

 

4.  NEW BUSINESS:

 

a.   TOWN MEETING ARTICLES: On motions made by Bill, all four articles on the September 27 warrant were approved unanimously. On a motion by Ted it was voted to remove the word “raise” from warrant articles 3 and 4.

b. SIGN ORDER FOR PETITION ON BALLOT: On a motion by Bill the order was signed.

c.  SIGNING INVESTMENT AND ABATEMENT POLICIES: On a motion by Bill the policies were adopted.

d.  WINDOW/SIDING RFP UPDATE: Ted stated that since there were no bids received, they will hire Ken Paul to do the job on an hourly basis.

e.   LIBRARY REPAIR: Ted reported that the insurance inspection showed that the work has not been done on the library’s sagging floor.  Selectmen are asking for bids. They have the engineered specifications.

f.   SIGN SPECIAL TOWN MEETING WARRANT: On a motion by Bill, the Warrant was signed.

 

5. OTHER BUSINESS: None

 

6. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Town Clerk’s Office closed Sept.20
