TOWN OF ACTON

SELECTMEN'S MEETING

SEPTEMBER 11, 2007

1.      PUBLIC FORUM: Mike noted that the gym is being used by many department employees now, and he feels it should come off the Fire Department and have a budget of it's own.

2.      APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as written.

3.      APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  Approved as written.

4.      WARRANT: Approved and signed.

5.      OLD BUSINESS

(A) ASSESSING: No action.

      (B) CABLE CONTRACT: Meeting now set for October 5.

      (C) FEE SCHEDULE: No action.

6.      NEW BUSINESS

      (A) TAX RATE: Nancy announced that the 2007/2008 tax rate has been set at $8.90 per thousand dollars of valuation.

      (B) SIGN ASSESSING CONTRACT: On a motion by Jim, the 2007/2008 contract for assessing by Bret Purvis Associates was signed.

      (C) APPOINTMENT: On a motion by Jim, Lois Michaud was appointed for a one year term on the Conservation Committee.

      Chip reported that there is a meeting on Thursday, September 20, regarding Communications and he hopes someone from Acton can attend. Petey Smith noted that there are a number of issues that Fire and Rescue are concerned about. The main concern is time lags between the time a 911 call comes in and when it is dispatched to the Town.              

      There was also some discussion about 911 street names and signs and about bridge conditions, but no action.
