SELECTMEN’S MEETING

TOWN OF ACTON

July 25, 2013

 

 

 

SALUTE TO THE FLAG

1.  APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as written.

2.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Approved as written.

3. OLD BUSINESS:

a Roof Bid: Ted announced that because there was only one bid received and it was more that budgeted, he made a motion that the bid be tabled and reissued in the fall. It was so voted.

b. Liquor License Crabby Bear: Ted reported the public hearing was held last meeting with no objections noted. Owner Scott Davis was present and Ted informed him that during this next year the Selectmen plan to create a policy to address some of their concerns. One concern they plan to address is the fact that when the fire alarms go off and the Fire Departments responds, they find customers and staff still in the building, instead of evacuating. On a motion by Bill, the License was signed.

4. NEW BUSINESS:

a. Mass Gathering Permit: On a motion by Bill, the Widow’s Sons of the Grand Chapter of the Masons was issued a permit for August 29-September 1, at the Acton Fairgrounds.

b. Sign for Local Roads Assistance Program: The URIP is now back to being called LRAP,  Local Road Assistance Program. This year’s contribution is $54,276. On a motion by Bill, Selectmen signed an agreement stating these funds will only be used for Capital Improvement on Town Ways connecting to State or State Aid Highways.

c. Ken Paul – Waiver of permit fee:  On a motion by Ted, it was voted to allow the CEO to waive $125.00 from the building permit fee for 1697 Foxes Ridge, which had experienced a fire.

e. Sign Bingo License for Elks for Acton Fair: On a motion by Bill the permit was signed.

5. OTHER BUSINESS: None

6. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Volunteers needed for 1 member and 1 alternate member of Saco River Corridor Commission,
