The Town’s website will be down for maintenance this weekend.

The Cable Channel 12 is always looking for non-profit information to post. Please come into the Town Hall for a form if you’d like to have something run on there or email information to apat@actonmaine.org

The Town of Acton has recently hired Lola Webster for the position of Assistant to the Town Clerk and Treasurer.  Lola is a former legal secretary with strong office skills and we are thrilled to have her.

Bean Supper – Acton Congregational Church Saturday, August 10^th from 4:30pm – 6:30pm. Come enjoy beans, hotdogs, ham, homemade salads, brown bread, rolls and homemade pies.  $7.00 adults, $3.00 children, under 5 free.

Mary Grant Pot Luck Picnic in the Park – Saturday, August 17^th at 12:30pm.  There will be a pie judging contest and a chance for everyone to remember the early days in Maine.  Bring a dish or sandwiches to share, also bring your own chair.  To enter the pie contest contact Lorraine at 636-3131, ext 401.  Other questions call Barbara at 636-3097.

The Acton Fair is Thursday, August 22^nd – Sunday, August 25^th.  Complete schedule can be found online at www.actonfair.net or brochures are available at the Town Hall.  The Acton Rescue will be having a 5K race at the fair this year on Sunday August 25^th at 8:15am.  Call Shelly for more information 636-3434.

The Planning Board has recently created a subcommittee of 4 members.  The purpose of this subcommittee is to review the storm water ordinance draft.  They meet downstairs on the 4^th Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm.

The School Committee recently accepted the resignation of Richard Michaud due to personal reasons.  After advertising the open seat, the committee voted to appoint  Jim Driscoll to fill the seat until the next regularly scheduled Town Meeting, which also happens to be when Michaud original term would have expired.

The School Committee has hired Ken Aldrich as the new Superintendent of the Acton Elementary School. 

The Town Hall will be closed Thursday, August 22^nd and Friday, August 23^rd.  Due to this closure the Board of Selectmen’s meeting has been moved to Thursday, August 29^th at 7:00pm.
