SALUTE TO THE FLAG

1.         APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as written.

2.         APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Approved as written.

3.         OLD BUSINESS:  None.

4.         NEW BUSINESS:

a: Abatement: On a motion by Bill, Wildblue Communications was granted as abatement of $1.51 for Personal Property no longer owned by them.

b: Sign Municipal Valuation Return: On a motion by Bill the MVR was signed.

c:  Roof Bid: No bids were received. Since there is now a need for a new well, work on the roof will be postponed.

d: Front Entrance Bid: Bill read the invitation to bid: The Town of Acton is soliciting bids for the reconstruction of the existing front entrance way. The project objective is to make the existing entrance/parking area handicap accessible. The project is a design build; interested bidders should submit a sketch and proposal no later then Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013. Bids will be opened and discussed at the Oct 24th 7:00pm B.O.S. meeting. Please deliver or mail to Town of Acton, 35 H Road, Acton Maine 04001. All envelopes MUST be clearly marked "WELL BID". The Board of Selectmen reserves the right to refuse or reject any and all bids, including incomplete bids.

e: Well Bid/Water test results: Ed reported that the recent breaks in the pipes was due to contamination from sodium chloride. He read the invitation to bid on a new well. The Town of Acton is soliciting bids for work associated with a new well. Please submit a price for the cost of drilling per foot and the cost of casing per foot. No other costs or estimates are needed at this time and shouldn't be included with bids. All bidders must also include proof of liability insurance, the names, phone numbers and dates of the last 3 wells drilled, with their bid submission. Deadline to submit a sealed bid is 3:00pm Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013. Bids will be opened and discussed at the Oct 24th 7:00pm B.O.S. meeting. Please deliver or mail to Town of Acton, 35 H Road, Acton Maine 04001. All envelopes MUST be clearly marked "FRONT ENTRANCE BID". The Board of Selectmen reserves the right to refuse or reject any and all bids, including incomplete bids.

Ted noted that since this is the third incident, the insurance will no longer cover our repairs if we do not correct the source.

5.         OTHER BUSINESS:  Paul Poyant asked questions about the well situation.

6.         ANNOUNCEMENTS: ZBA Hearing downstairs October 22, 6pm

Presentation of Boston Post Cane October 24, 7pm Next Selectmen’s meeting

Town Hall will be closed on Wednesday, October 16th, 2013 (Training)
