TOWN OF ACTON

November 14, 2013

SALUTE TO THE FLAG

1.         APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as written.

2.         APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Approved as written.

3.         OLD BUSINESS: None

4.         NEW BUSINESS:

a. Abatement: An abatement of $7.96 was granted on a motion by Bill, for Tyco, who has no property in Acton.

b. Well update: Chairman Ted Kryzak reported on the final cost of installing the new well. Paid to Top Coat Paving, $2.200.00; Mooney Excavating for digging and filling trench $1,262.95; Payroll $569.40 for labor; Patrick Stevens $102.98 for test hole, Yeaton Excavating $162.50 for material hauled; Beaver Hill Well Drilling $2,995.00 installation of well pump; Deering Lumber $459.80 insulation; Middleton Building Supplies $158.85 insulation; Turks Sand and Gravel $500.00 material; Streeter and Sons $4680.00 well drilling; Cyr mileage $16.95 for picking up insulation for a total of $13,108.43. There is a balance of $3,776.73 in the Maintenance Account with $1,800 earmarked for cleaning and $820 for heating leaving a balance of $1,156.73.

c. Holiday closings: The Town Hall will be closed on Tuesday, December  24th, Wednesday, December, 25th and Thursday, December 26th for the Christmas Holiday.  In regards to the New Years holiday, Town Hall will be open as scheduled from on New Years Eve, Tuesday, December 31st. It will be closed on Wednesday, January 1st, New Years Day. The Transfer Station will be closed on Wednesday, December 25.

 

d. Update on Fire Truck: Peter Smith reported that he and Bill Cataneyse went to check on the new truck It should be delivered in 3 to 4 weeks.

5.         OTHER BUSINESS:  Barbara Seckar, Chairman of the Mary Grant Nature Preserve Committee addressed the Selectmen with her displeasure with the Cable TV Management.  She stated that the Mary Grant Committee is trying to encourage Acton residents to visit this fine park. Showing the events on TV is one way to promote the use of the site. The Pumpkin Carving event was great and well worth several showings on TV. The first time it was shown was at . The next time it was shown was on Halloween at . It should have been shown several times in different time slots as the Thanksgiving and Christmas cooking programs are. Selectmen said that currently, Eric is taking training on programming.
