SELECTMEN’S MEETING

TOWN OF ACTON

SALUTE TO THE FLAG

1.         APPROVAL OF AGENDA:  Approved as written.

2.         APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Approved as written. 

 

3.         OLD BUSINESS:

a. Fire Truck Update: The new fire truck has arrived. They will be checking the truck against the specs and if everything is ok, will be making the final payment.

 

4.         NEW BUSINESS:

 

a. Sign Warrant for Special Town Meeting March 13, at the Town Hall: Ted read the warrant asking for ratification of a $64,113 overdraft in the Stockpile and Winter Maintenance accounts, and to appropriate up to $97,000 from the undesignated fund balance to continue winter maintenance. On a motion by Bill, the warrant was signed.

 

b. Transfer Station RFP: The contract with D&E  is running out. Selectmen have sent out the following requests for proposals: The Town of Acton is requesting proposals for a 3 year contract to provide a  4 yard compactor and hopper for MSW,  with the option to own or rent,  including maintenance fees,  and  a second proposal for furnishing containers for the purpose of receiving household waste, and hauling all compacted waste to Pine Tree Waste in Westbrook, as often as required to maintain the Transfer Station. For further information call Bob Mann at 636-1419 or 636-3108. Proposals should contain price per haul, price for purchase,  and  price for rental of equipment to be sent to Town of Acton.

5.         OTHER BUSINESS:  Selectmen expressed their appreciation to Dick Neal for donating a door opener for the Transfer Station that will enable persons carrying recyclables to open the door with their elbow.

 

 

6.         ANNOUNCEMENTS: Nomination papers are available for two members of the School Board for 3 years, Judie Shain and Jim Driscoll’s terms are expiring; and one Selectman, Assessor and Overseer of the Poor for three years, Bill Shields term is expiring.
