1.         APPROVAL OF AGENDA:  

 

2.         APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  

 

3.         OLD BUSINESS:

 

 a.         Town Hall/Library Roof Bids Chairman Kryzak opened the two bids received.   The first was from Hall Brothers Inc, of Berwick Maine, for the amount of $10,900; the second was from Total Maintenance Services for the amount of $13,325.  Both companies included proof of liability insurance and met the workers compensation requirement.  After reviewing both bids, it did not appear both companies bid on the exact same portions of the roof.  Chairman Kryzak requested that both companies be contacted to review “all roofs needed” and to get a per square footage price.  The Board agreed to make a decision at the next meeting. 

b.         Road Committee Opening

 

Chairman Kryzak indicated that there was still a road committee opening due to a recent resignation.  Interested residents should contact the Town Clerk for more information.

c.         Mousam Lake Resident / MWDC Chairman Kryzak stated that the Town is looking for a property owner on Mousam Lake to serve on the MWDC with Selectmen Shields and Walsh.  Interested parties should contact the Town Clerk.

d.         Oldest Resident The Board of Selectmen has narrowed down the oldest resident to two people and are hopeful to award the Boston Post Cane soon.

 

4.         NEW BUSINESS:

 

a.         Election of Chair Bill Shields made a motion to appoint Ted Kryzak as Chairman for the upcoming 2014-2015 year, seconded by Ed Walsh; all in favor, motion carried.

b.         Mass Gathering Permit   Chairman Kryzak described the Mass Gathering Permit recently received by Kennan Auction Company.  They will be having an auction in Acton, at the Fairgrounds on September 20, 2014.  Insurance has been received.  Bill Shields made a motion to sign the mass gathering permit; seconded by Ed Walsh.  All in favor, permit approved.

c.         County Tax Assessment Chairman Kryzak read the County Tax Assessment as received by York County for the period of 07/1/2014 – 06/30/2015.  Acton’s share is $290,079.13.   Bill Shields made a motion to sign the document, seconded by Ed Walsh.  All in favor, document signed.

            d.         Propane Bid The Board of Selectmen announced they were going out to bid for propane for the upcoming year; Chairman Kryzak read the bid that included the Town Hall, Fire Station, Library and Fitness Center.  Sealed bids will be accepted until 4:00pm on August 13, 2014.

 

5.         OTHER BUSINESS:

6.         ANNOUNCEMENTS: York County Action Corporation Letter Ed Walsh read aloud a letter from York County Acton thanking the Town for their social service donation and requested said funds.

 

 

Public Hearing Notice – GA Amendments

Chairman Kryzak announced that amendments to the General Assistance Program have been received and before they can be accepted the Board must hold a public hearing on them.  Said hearing will be held at 7:00 on Thursday, August 14th, 2014.

Public Hearing Notice – Crabby Bear Liquor License Renewal

Bill Shields announced that a public hearing will be held at 7:00pm on August 14th, 2014 to discuss the liquor license renewal of Crabby Bear. 

 Bean Supper A bean supper will be held at the Shapleigh First Baptist for Friday, July 25th, 2014; all are welcome.

Art in the Park

 

Chairman Kryzak announced that the Art and the Park will be on held on Saturday, July 26th, 2014 at the Mary Grant Preserve; all are welcome.

           

New GA Hours           The Town of Acton has changed its GA hours to Tuesday’s from 9am – 4pm, other then emergencies.

Bill Shields made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:25; seconded by Ed Walsh.
