Moment of Silence in remembrance of those who lost their lives on 9/11/01

1.         1.  APPROVAL OF AGENDA:  On a motion by Mr. Shields and seconded from Mr. Walsh, the agenda was approved as written.

2.         2.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  On a motion by Mr. Shields and seconded from Mr. Walsh, the minutes from August 28, 2014 were approved as written.

3.  OLD BUSINESS:

 

a.         Road Committee Opening -  Mr. Kryzak advised that there is still an opening and to see Town Clerk, Jennifer Roux if you are interested.

b.         Mousam Lake Resident / MWDC- Mr. Kryzak advised that there is an opening on the Mousam Watershed Damn Coalition for a Mousam Lake resident.  If you are interested or would like more information, please see Jennifer Roux

4.          NEW BUSINESS:  

a.         Sand Bid- The Town of Acton is seeking a bid for winter sand.  Sand should be 3/8” screened and price should be per yard.  Estimated usage is 3,000 to 4,000 yd but would like the condition to purchase up to 6,000yds.  Sealed bids are due by 4pm on Wednesday September 24, 2014 and will be opened at the meeting on September 25, 2014.

b.         Updated Fitness Center Assumption of Risk and Release- Two changes were made to the agreement to include that no guests are allowed and the use of alcohol and tobacco is prohibited in the gym.  On a motion by Mr. Shields and seconded by Mr. Walsh, the amended Assumption of Risk and Release was approved.

c.         Hobbs Cemetery Agreement- On a motion by Mr. Shields and seconded by Mr. Walsh the agreement with 3 Rivers Land Trust to maintain and repair the Hobb’s Cemetery was approved and signed.

d.         Quit Claim Deed / Transfer Tax- On a motion by Mr. Shields and seconded by Mr. Walsh the Quit Claim Deed for property at Map 106 Lot 003 to Marcia Wye was signed.

e.         2014-2015 Ice Salt- On a motion by Mr. Shields and seconded by Mr. Walsh the agreement with Granite State Minerals was signed for the purchase of Salt for the 2014-2015 winter season at the price of $54.47/ton.  Prices are good through June 30, 2015.

f.          CAI GIS Maintenance Agreement- On a motion by Mr. Shields and seconded by Mr. Walsh, the annual contract for online GIS mapping with Cartographics was approved and signed.

g.         Roofing Updates Town Buildings/Salt Shed-  Mr. Kryzak reported that the roofs at the Town Hall and the Fitness Building have been completed by Hall Brothers and have a 30 year warranty.    Mr. Kryzak also explained that an engineer came out to the Sand/Salt shed as recommended by MMA Insurance.  The civil engineer said that the building had not changed since the last study in 2002 was done, and recommended putting a type of covering on the roof to allow the snow/ice to fall smoothly.  This will allow the Town more time to get bids and work out specifications of what is needed for a new building.  Hall Bros was out and installed the recommended covering, which is a tarp type covering.  The cost for this was approximately $3,500.

5.         OTHER BUSINESS:

Larissa Crockett invited the public to join the 3 Rivers Land Trust on September 28th at the Hobb Farm property.  They have been working on building some walking trails and they will have a scavenger hunt and various refreshments.  The use of ATV’s is prohibited on this property as there are active hay fields that the ATV’s would damage.

6.         ANNOUCEMENTS:  

            a.         Flu Shots; Friday Sept. 26 9:00am – 4:00pm $30.00 e
