SELECTMEN’S MEETING

 

TOWN OF ACTON

 

September 18th, 2014

SALUTE TO THE FLAG

 

1.         APPROVAL OF AGENDA:  

 

Bill Shields made a motion to approve the agenda as presented; seconded by Ed Walsh.  All in favor, motion carried.

 

2.         APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  

 

Bill Shields made a motion to approve the minutes from September 11th; seconded by Ed Walsh.  All in favor, motion carried.

 

3.         OLD BUSINESS:

 

            a.         Road Committee Opening

Chairman Kryzak indicated the Town is still trying to fill one seat on the Road Committee; anyone interested should inquire with the Town Clerk.  On another note, Chairman Kryzak went on to say, that the open seat on the MWDC committee has been filled. 

 

4.         NEW BUSINESS:  

           

a.                   Ken Aldridge / Acton Elementary School Superintendent

 

Superintendent Aldridge announced his retirement from the Acton Elementary School.  Mr. Aldridge explained a glitch in the education field that forced this decision regarding his New York certification vs a needed Maine certification.  Mr. Aldridge thanked the Board for their assistance and work over the last year and stated he felt it had been a good working environment in which he enjoyed.  Chairman Kryzak thanked Mr. Aldridge for his service and wished him well in his future endeavors.

 

b.                  Paving Bid Update

 

Chairman Kryzak discussed a change to the paving bid for the upcoming year.  He indicated instead of going out to bid in September as they usually do, the Board decided to go out in February to get a more accurate price for that calendar year.  He closed by stating all paving has been completed for this year and if, any additional work needed to be done the Road Commissioners would be using the company that was last awarded the bid by the Town.

 

c.                   Oldest Resident Celebration Ceremony

 

Chairman Kryzak announced that the Selectmen, along with the Acton/Shapleigh Historical Society would be presenting the Boston Post Cane to the oldest resident on Saturday, September 20th at 11am.  This celebration will take place at the Historical Society on Rt. 109.

 

d.                  Executive Session

 

Re:       MRSA 405-A Title 1 Chapter 13 Sub 1 Section 6-A

Bill Shields made a motion to go into executive session for a personnel matter, pursuant to MRSA 405-A Title 1 Chapter 13 Sub 1 Section 6-A; seconded by Ed Walsh. 

 

Bill Shields made a motion to come out of executive session at 6:55pm; seconded by Ed Walsh.  All in favor, motion carried.
