SELECTMEN’S MEETING

TOWN OF ACTON

SALUTE TO THE FLAG

1.         APPROVAL OF AGENDA:  

Bill Shields made a motion to approve the agenda as presented; seconded by Ed Walsh.  All in favor, motion carried.

2.         APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  

Bill Shields made a motion to approve the minutes as presented; seconded by Ed Walsh.  All in favor, motion carried.

3.         OLD BUSINESS:

           

            a.         Town Report Deadlines

Chairman Kryzak reminded all department heads and committees that the deadline to submit their letter for the town report is Friday, October 17th.  All letters must be submitted electronically.

 

4.         NEW BUSINESS:  

 

a.         Superintendent Bob England / Acton Elementary School

Chairman Kryzak introduced the new superintendant of the Acton Elementary School as Bob England.  Superintendant England thanks the Board for their invitation and stated that although he’s only been on the job since October 1st, he has had a chance to meet some really nice staff, townspeople and even spend some time in the classrooms.  The Board welcomed him and wished him well.

b.         Holiday Schedule

The Town Hall will be closed on Tuesday, November 11th.  The Town Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 27th and Friday, November 28th.  The Transfer Station will be closed on Wednesday, December 24th.  The Town Hall will be closed on Wednesday, December 24th, Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26th.  The Transfer Station and Town Hall will be open as scheduled on Wednesday, December 31st. The Town Hall will be closed on Thursday, January 1st.

            c.         November / December BOS Meeting Dates

Chairman Kryzak announced due to the holidays the Board will only meet once in November and December, unless an emergency arose.  Meetings will be on November 13th and December 11th.

            d.         Conservation Committee Openings

Chairman Kryzak proclaimed there are 3 openings on the Conservation Committee, anyone with interest should contact the Town Clerk.

e.         Abatements

            1.         Cotton RE531

            2.         Tyco Integrated PP263

            3.         Drummey RE745

            4.         Grassi RE2311

Chairman Kryzak reviewed each abatement and recommendation.  Bill Shields made a motion to approve all abatements as presented; seconded by Ed Walsh.  All in favor, abatements signed as presented.

 

5.         OTHER BUSINESS:

            NA

6.                  ANNOUCEMENTS:

 

a.         November 4th, 2014 Election / Absentee Ballots

Chairman Kryzak announced that Absentee Ballots for the November 4th Election are now available in the Town Clerk’s office.   The polls will be open on November 4th from 8:00am – 8:00pm.

            b.         Pumpkin Carving

The Mary Grant Preserve will hold a pumpkin carving event on Saturday, October 18th beginning at 4:00pm on Sam Page Road.  There are free pumpkins, chowder and cider.  All are welcome.  Donations will be accepted.
