TOWN OF ACTON

SALUTE TO THE FLAG

 

1.         APPROVAL OF AGENDA:   Bill Shields made a motion to approve the agenda; seconded by Ed Walsh, all in favor, motion carried.

 

2.         APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  Bill Shields made a motion to approve the minutes from April 30, 2015; seconded by Ed Walsh, all in favor, motion carried.

 

3.         OLD BUSINESS:                  

 

a.                  Sand/Salt Shed Bid

 

Bids will be opened on May 28, 2015, and are all due by May 21, 2015.

 

 

b.                  Liquor License Public Hearing

 

-William Palladio / The Potting Shed – 1060 Route 109. 

A public hearing will be held on Thursday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. to consider renewal.

 

4.         NEW BUSINESS:

 

a.                  Liquor License Hearing

 

-Alan Paquette / Route 109 Restaurant (Formerly Crabby-Bears)

Bill Shields moved to go into a public hearing; seconded by Ed Walsh, all in favor, motion carried.  Chairman Kryzak opened the meeting by asking the applicant if he understood that making false statements on the application is punishable law, and asked the applicant if he wished to pursue the application.  After Mr. Paquette agreed to continue, Chairman Kryzak reviewed Mr. Paquette’s criminal history record obtained from InforMe.  Bill Shields made a motion to adjourn from the public hearing; seconded by Ed Walsh, all in favor, motion carried.  Ed Walsh made a motion to deny the application based on title 28A section 2; seconded by Bill Shields, all in favor, motion carried.  License denied.

 

            b.         June Election / Absentee Ballots

Absentee ballots are available as of today for the June 9, 2015 election.  No conversation about anything on the ballot is allowed within 250 feet of the Town Clerk’s office when the office is open. 

 

5.         ANNOUCEMENTS: 

 

            a.         Mary Grant Letter

 

Bill Shields read aloud a letter thanking the town for the trails, which included a $25 check toward the upkeep of property from Marylyn Packard Luther.  The Mary Grant Society thanks Ms. Luther for her contribution.               

 

            b.         Transfer Station – Memorial Day May 25

 

                        The Transfer Station will be closed on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015.

 

7.         OTHER BUSINESS:           

 

            Chip Vennell asked if there is a “Meet the Candidates” night scheduled.  Chairman Kryzak indicated that in the past the party chairs have scheduled it.  He will look into it.

9.         ADJOURNMENT:   Bill Shields made a motion to adjourn at 7:35p.m., seconded by Ed Walsh, all in favor, motion carried.
