6. PUBLIC COMMENT:

A. Greg Vermette

Mr. Vermette spoke to the Board regarding his concerns of "junkyards" in Town. Mr. Vermette feels its time to address the numerous properties in town that are beginning to affect the value of other properties due to excessive debris in the yards. Mr. Vermette indicated he, and others, have brought some of these properties to the attention of the CEO. Selectmen Elise stated that the Board is currently working on putting together a possible ordinance to control this issue. They are hopeful to start looking at drafts after the new Selectman seat is filled.

Mr. Brendan Meehan spoke to the Board about a concern he had from a visit to the Town Clerk/Tax Collector's Office in December. He indicated he felt like he had to wait an unacceptable amount of time for someone to help him and that staff was speaking to Deputy's instead of him, when he was clearly standing by the window with his checkbook in hand. He felt as a taxpayer he should be addressed first and that the office staff needs to be reminded who they work for. Jennifer Roux spoke on behalf of this situation, although she can't recall the exact incident, she took full responsibility for it and apologized. She assured Mr. Meehan that her office has the Town of Acton resident's best interest in mind and understands clearly who they work for. She ended by saying it would be reiterated to staff, including herself.
