SELECTMEN'S MEETING

 

JULY 22, 2008

 

 

1.      APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved with the addition of 5. (B),(C),(D).

 

2.      APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Approved as written.

 

3.      WARRANT: Approved and signed.

 

4.      OLD BUSINESS:

 

            a.  ASSESSING: Nancy has furnished copies of Lessard's contract proposal to Tony and Mike to peruse for discussion.

 

            b.  OIL BID: Irving offered 4.64. per gallon. Irving sent a credit application which Lorraine gave to Vicki to complete and return.

 

            c.  33rd STREET LAND:  Bids to be opened August 5.

 

 

5.    NEW BUSINESS:

 

            (A) APPOINTMENTS: On a motion by Tony, the following appointments were made: Gary   Morrison, Keith Davis, Dwight Venell as Fair Hearing Authority; Lorraine Yeaton and Tom Cashin as  Representatives to Southern Maine Regional Planning Commission; Andy Brazier,     Barbara Seckar, Richard Neal, Eric Gallagher, Richard Johnson, Carl Davis, Jim Wilson,             Lorraine Yeaton as members of the Mary Grant Nature Preserve Committee.

 

 

            (B) FIRE DEPARTMENT STIPEND: Nancy reported that Petey Smith had planned to be  here tonight but a medical emergency had prevented it. When Petey calculated the stipends two  weeks ago he made an error and used an incorrect multiplier, resulting in over payment of the stipends. Those receiving officer's salaries will have their overpayment deducted from their salaries. The others will be deducted from the  members next stipend payment.

 

 

            (C)  TOWN HALL WATER TEST: The recent test shows iron, manganese and hardness levels unacceptable, however these levels are considered aesthetic and are not known to cause  a health hazard.

 

 

            (D) LINDA CAPRISTO: Linda is working on the assessing programs, transferring data  from Britesides to Trio. Linda's salary was not in the budget but selectmen definitely  consider her as an employee working in excess of 20 hours weekly and therefore eligible  for insurance benefits. Selectmen will need to find money in the budget to fund her salary.

 

 

6.   ADJOURNMENT: Adjourned at 6:40 pm
