 SELECTMEN'S MEETING

 AUGUST 19, 2008

 

 

1. APROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as written.

    

2. APROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Approved as written.

    

3. WARRANT: Approved and signed

    

4. OLD BUSINESS:

    

   a. ASSESSING: Selectmen met with Assessor Joe Lessard who they have hired on a per diem basis, to be in the office/field one day a month.

          b. ROAD STRIPING: Tony contacted MMA and they said the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control sets the standards   for road striping and to contact the Local Road Center for more information. Selectmen will request a meeting with the Road Committee and ask them to get the information and do the research.

 

5. NEW BUSINESS:

    

   (A) WEB SITE UPDATE:  Nancy reported actonmaine.org has been updated to include a calendar of events as well as a link to the school and also to the state for absentee ballots.

          (B) ROGER ROY re: Emergency Management: Roger suggested there is a need for a committee be appointed to  assist in times of disasters. Mike responded that there is already a chain of command mandated by Federal, State and County EMA. Nancy noted that the Town of Acton has an Emergency Plan in place.

             (C)   SCHEDULE WARRANT & FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING: Selectmen will  call a meeting for September 8 to get the committee activated.

 Patti Dutil asked (1) What the assessor is being paid a day. Tony said $600. (2) When will Metrocast be televising?  Mike estimated by October 12. (3) When will drug testing be in effect? As soon as packet is received from company they have contracted with.
