SELECTMEN'S MEETING

 

NOVEMBER 7, 2008

 

1. SALUTE TO THE AMERICAN FLAG

 

2. APROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved with the addition of 6.(C).

 

3. APROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Approved as written.

 

4. WARRANT: Approved and signed.

 

5. OLD BUSINESS:

 

            (a) ASSESSING: Joe will be in on December 5.                    

 

6.  NEW BUSINESS:

 

            A) OFFICES CLOSED: All Municipal Offices will be closed November 11, Veteran's Day and November 27, 28, 29 Thanksgiving week. Selectmen's  Nov. 27  Meeting is rescheduled for November 25 at 7 pm.

 

            ((B) VETERAN”S EXEMPTION: The State  has increased the Veteran's Exemption from  $5,000 to $6,000. Selectmen were not made aware of this change until after commitment. They will write abatements for all veterans that received exemptions last year in the amount of $10.45.

 

            (C)Vicki reported that Ron Smith will be at the November 13 Selectmen's meeting to discuss the audit report. Vicki also reported she will be taking training on November 20 for the school accounting. Ann Germon said she had gone on line and found that the school was delinquent in filing some reports. Vicki said the State subsidy  was withheld until the reports were submitted. The Northern Data program they use does not seem to produce the figures necessary for the report. That is why   Vicki wants to take the training.

 

            Vicki stated that since the Town Offices will not be open November 11, she will need all payrolls by 4 pm on Wednesday. 

            Vicki reported that she and Jennifer had interviewed the applicants for the position of assistant to the Town Clerk, Tax Collector and Treasurer and wish to make a recommendation to the  selectmen. Tony made a motion to go into Executive Session at 10:25 am. Selectmen came out of Executive Session at 10:31 and announced they were hiring Sherrie Smith.
